Your New Favorite Supplement (Magnesium)

Supplementation can be a tricky subject. With hundreds on the market, it can be difficult to determine what you actually need. Tons of companies would love to sell you a plethora of bull shit, many of which the body can’t even properly absorb.

Magnesium, one of the seven macrominerals, is one of the few supplements I can confidently say I believe most people should be taking. It is required in the body for proper function of nerves and muscles, as well as maintenance of bones.

Benefits of Magnesium

  • Improved Sleep

Magnesium regulates transportation of calcium, potassium, and other essential minerals through the body in order to maintain nerve and muscle function integrity

  • Improved Muscle and Nerve Function

Magnesium regulates transportation of calcium, potassium, and other essential minerals through the body in order to maintain nerve and muscle function integrity

  • Improved Mood (Reduction in Anxiety and Depression)

Magnesium has been shown to have mood stabilizing effects. Likely linked to the increase in GABA, it has been shown to reduce moderate anxiety and depression.

Low Magnesium Levels Have Been Linked To:

  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Osteoporosis
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Clogged Arteries
  • Heart Disease
  • Diabetes

High Magnesium Source Foods

  • Broccoli
  • Avocado
  • Almonds
  • Squash
  • Spinach
  • Coffee

I typically recommend 400mg of magnesium glycinate daily. I personally prefer to take it post workout as well, for the stress reduction benefits.

Key Points
