You’ are what you digest…

We’ve all heard the saying, “You are what you eat.” I’d make the argument, “You are what you digest.”

Many of us are working with pretty wrecked guts and digestive systems whether we know it or not.. With the accessibility to cheap, convenient, low quality foods all around us, this seems to be more common than not in most individuals. Depending on your diet, age, levels of activity, regular bowel movements could mean anywhere from 2-3 times per day to 3-4 times per week. Chances are, if you’re reading this email and a relatively active human, you should shoot for about once per day.

Digestion is a monster of a topic, that I wouldn’t consider myself an expert on.. However, here’s a few things I’ve implemented in my own life and into my client’s regimen that have been successful in improving digestion.

Supplement Magnesium Citrate

If you’re someone who struggles to go, Magnesium of all forms is your friend, Citrate is your best bet for aiding in more frequent BMs

Practice Mindfulness/Meditation Before Eating

I always seem to get funny looks when I bring up the concept of mindfulness or meditation as it relates to the human body and it’s systems, but trust me when I say just 5 minutes of gratitude, awareness, and breathing before a meal will make a massive impact on how your body digests that meal.

Ensure You’re Properly Hydrated

This is more than just drinking enough water. It is critical your body possess adequate sodium, potassium, and fiber to ensure hydration and function properly.
