The age old saying, “Fail to prepare, prepare to fail” is an ultimate truism in body transformations. Making time for workouts is one thing, but the preparation around food is a whole different ball game.
It’s no secret that it takes being in a caloric deficit to lose body fat, however, that’s not so simple for some individuals. Especially if you’re someone with kids, a lot on your plate at work, or just a jam-packed schedule, preparation is going to be a key component in your success.
Many times, we truthfully intend to eat well. We tell ourselves we’re only making healthy decisions moving forward. But, lunch time rolls around, and you realize you have no idea what you’re going to eat.
You’re dealing with kids, you have a 16 hour day at work, you decide you need convenience over anything. Unfortunately in many scenarios, that means fast food, a snack bar, or whatever the first thing in sight is. Personally, I do anywhere from 8-12 sessions per day, so unless I pack a lunch, I’m skipping a meal, and that’s not a great option either.
While you can make solid on the spot decisions in these scenarios, the name of the game is trying to get ahead. Getting ahead by doing meal prep at the beginning of the week or even blocking out extra time to hit a restaurant that has healthy options. Do your future self a favor and think ahead!
